Each piece features stylized creatures arranged in bold graphic compositions, combining folk art influences with modernist design principles. Each piece was individually numbered, adding to its collectible value.

About the Designer: Nils Thorsson

Nils Thorsson (1898–1975) was one of Denmark's most important ceramic designers of the 20th century. He worked for Royal Copenhagen for over 50 years, becoming artistic director of the Aluminia faience factory in 1928. His work is characterized by bold, stylized motifs often inspired by nature, folk art, and ancient cultures. He had a particular talent for creating decorative patterns that were both modern and timeless, combining graphic strength with intricate detail. His work is held in major museum collections worldwide, including the Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen.

About the Brand: Royal Copenhagen

Founded in 1775, Royal Copenhagen is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious porcelain manufacturers, holding a Royal Warrant from the Danish Royal Family. Royal Copenhagen Fajans (also known as Aluminia) was the company's faience division, producing earthenware pieces that allowed for bolder, more experimental designs than traditional porcelain. During the mid-20th century, the Fajans division became a creative laboratory where designers like Nils Thorsson could explore new decorative techniques and artistic expressions.

This Baca dish is not simply a decorative object—it's a piece of Danish design history. The stylized animal motifs bring playfulness and artistic sophistication to any space, whether displayed on a wall or used as a decorative tray. This is the kind of design that celebrates the golden age of Scandinavian ceramic art and becomes a treasured piece in any collection.
